MRG are current working with a leading Tier 1 contractor, with offices throughout the UK who are looking to appoint a Contracts Director to work from their Regional Office in Surrey. The company has established itself amongst the top building companies delivering high quality, sustainable construction projects across a range of sectors including Commercial, Hotel & Leisure, Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Residential, Pharmaceutical and Retail. Due to succession planning we are seeking a suitability experienced Contracts Director to take responsibility alongside the senior board members for the day-to-day operational management of a regional office in Surrey, encompassing all aspects of commercial, operations, HR and client management. It is likely that the successful candidate will be a strong business leader with 20 years of experience within a similar role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE Lead and effectively manage, strategically and operationally, the UK team to deliver sustainable profitable growth across current and future sectors. Oversee and provide leadership, direction and management of multiple projects to completion, ensuring that work is completed safely, within programme, to exacting Quality and Health & Safety standards and within budget. Responsible for resource planning and maintaining a strong fit for purpose management structure. Oversee the procurement and administration of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet agreed performance standards. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients. Ensure all UK Building Standards, Accreditations, Controls and Procedures are adhered to across all projects. Maintain a positive attitude to Health & Safety across the team and co-operate with Health & Safety Policy/local rules/codes of practice relating to Health & Safety. Demonstrate strong Commercial awareness and Cost Control ability with a proven track record in the area of Construction planning and Programme planning. Oversee the Bid Management Process and Bid Submissions Identify and develop a target list of potential tender opportunities, highlighting prospective growth sectors/clients/design teams/projects and an action plan to deliver on same. Oversee all marketing activity in the region to support business development initiatives. Ability to function autonomously and jointly with the relevant Directors, routinely making management decisions pertaining to project issues with minimal supervision throughout the life of the various projects. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE A candidate with a strong commercial background and detailed working knowledge of relevant forms of contract, legal documentation and Target Costing. A proven steady record of leading and delivering large and complex construction projects from pre-construction to successful completion. Demonstrable ability of working under pressure whilst maintaining the ability to prioritise, a robust attention to detail, and a strong concern for H&S, order and quality. Proven leadership skills with the ability to delegate and oversee projects to completion. Customer focused and excellent customer service skills that leads to constructive and profitable business partnerships. Demonstrable experience of winning public and private sector contracts and delivering repeat business. Strong communication skills promoting good client, consultant, subcontractor and supplier relationships. Educated to degree level or equivalent with a strong track record in the industry This Contracts Director post offers a £six figure salary per annum with a comprehensive executive package.
