Overview of role: Manage and produce estimates, primarily associated with international tenders, the majority of which are controlled/managed by the UK office. Qualifications and experience: Civil Engineering Degree & Quantity Surveyor Minimum 10 years Civil Engineering Estimating experience, preferably Water Industry related Duties and responsibilities: Manage and produce civil works estimating in detail as well as the incorporation of electrical, mechanical and other specialist estimates to ensure a comprehensive tender price is generated. Preparation of civil works bills of quantities from Clients'/In-house drawings Production of Plant Schedules Preparation of estimate summaries and bills of quantities to facilitate tender settlements. Presentation of tender estimates to the tender review panel and active participation in settlement of bids As part of a review team undertake reviews, risk analysis and make amendments to estimates prepared by the company's overseas offices Identification of risk and preparation of technical/commercial risk analyses for estimates Preparation of tender programmes and outline resource schedules Understand cash flow implications of estimate & produce cash flow against programme Preparation and presentation of reports and recommendations on key technical/commercial issues of internal estimate summaries and active participation in tender review meetings Proactive liaison with UK and overseas proposals, sales and engineering staff to maximise co-ordination and communication From time to time take a lead in the preparation of high value, high level, budget estimates, based on outline information Interface in detail with design and engineering teams (including procurement, shipping and insurance staff). Ensure company's quality procedures are followed in the execution of all activities To effectively liaise with other staff members, clients, and suppliers to ensure customer satisfaction and satisfactory contract completion Person specification 1. Knowledge and experience: Large-scale Civil Engineering projects including water retaining structures & pipelines Overseas experience, preferably including Third World countries Previous experience of FIDIC contract documents Understand the principles of potable & waste water and reverse osmosis treatment. Have experience of advising / controlling other members of staff in designing all aspects of water sewage and reverse osmosis treatment plants (10 years) Working knowledge of CESMM Desirable knowledge of Causeway software 2. Skills: Ability to think clearly under pressure Good negotiation skills Good interpersonal skills Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, e.g. civil engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management A flexible mind, with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one time Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly Computer literacy Able to travel overseas as and when required Driving licence 3. Internal business processes: Continuously improve on accuracy of information Adhere to company procedures Assist in updating company procedures and processes as required 4. Health safety and environment: Monitor and enforce the latest health and safety procedures, regulations and legislation Reduce waste to a minimum from all departmental activities and ensure a safe working environment for all staff On offer will be a base salary of up to £80,000 p.a. plus package
